Corrective Measures Remedy Selection
University of Maine Orono
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP) Hazardous Waste Program is hereby providing public notice of the intent of MEDEP to recommend to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) a remedy selection for the University of Maine Orono (UMO).
MEDEP has reviewed all available site information and has made a preliminary determination that no Corrective Action remedy is necessary at the site. This determination is protective of, and ensures future protection of, human health and the environment.
The purpose of this public notice is to initiate a thirty (30) day comment period beginning on the date of publication. During this period, the public is invited to comment in writing on the proposed Corrective Action remedy selection determination. The public may review the project files for the site. The files are available for public review by appointment by contacting:

Comments must be received by the MEDEP by 5:00 PM on the 30th day of the comment period. A final decision on the Corrective Action remedy selection determination will not be made until the comment period has ended. If substantial interest is shown, a public meeting may be conducted. If needed, a response to comment will be available by mail upon written request. Such requests must be received within forty-five (45) days of the date of this publication.
